A search that began in bakeries
Warren started with a specific problem: stubborn carbon build-up on bakery equipment. Products from a chemical company were trialled in three stores and rejected within three days because customers said they did not work.
The problem went beyond dirty-looking equipment. Carbon lodged in small tray holes could fall onto macarons and spoil a whole batch. Warren needed an alternative that could remove that build-up.
Warren found a soak tank supplier in Australia, left his job and ordered the first 10 tanks. Once around 15 units were operating successfully, word of mouth began to spread.
Much of the business’s growth came from Warren’s door-to-door visits. Those visits gave him a way to explain an unfamiliar rental model face to face. Today, over 80 units operate nationwide, with customers including Millbrook Resort and Cardrona Hotel.
